JCHT collecting leftover Christmas trees for fish habitat
JOHNSON COUNTY– Wondering what to do with your leftover Christmas trees?
Bring them to swim with the fishes.
Leftover Christmas trees can be used in ponds as fish habitats. Fish enjoy using natural wood for laying eggs and as secure hiding places. Johnson County Heritage Trust volunteers will place leftover Christmas trees in the Belgum Grove pond for this purpose.
Clear your trees of decoration– especially tinsel– and bring them to the Johnson County Heritage Trust Belgum Grove property, four miles west of Hills, on the south side of 500th St. (County Road F62).
Trees should be dropped at the designated area no later than Jan. 8.
