Jerry Robert Cahill

Jerry Robert Cahill, 46, of North Liberty, lost his brief but courageous battle with liver cancer on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at KU Med.
Jerry was born June 21, 1962, in Des Moines, the son of Marilyn and Ken Cahill. After moving in 1972 to North Liberty, where he spent his childhood, he graduated from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids in 1980. His career took him to Fort Lauderdale, Denver, Cedar Rapids and eventually settling in Kansas City, Mo. His career included founding and running Contacts 4 You (a mail-order contact lens company) and Landis +GYR (Cell Net) in Kansas City, where he was recently promoted to AMS ops supervisor.
Jerry devoted his energy to many organizations by serving on the board of directors for Camelot Academy (a performing arts program for children in Kansas City), where he was recently promoted to AMS Ops Supervisor.
Jerry devoted his energy to many organizations by serving on the board of directors for Camelot Academy (a performing arts program for children in Kansas City), as well as on the board for Prairie Village “Village Fest.” Near and dear to his heart was the founding five years ago and the ongoing management of the “Jerryz Kidz” team for the Kansas City AIDS Walk. Jerry will be remembered by all for the way he loved life, the way he inspired those around him, and how he welcomed everyone into his life and heart with open arms.
Jerry leaves behind his mother and father; four sisters, Cindy (Earl) Tessmer, Sherri Cahill, Tanya (Trent) Rogers, Tracy (Kevin) Oehler; and six nieces and nephews, Haley, Michael and Madison Tessmer, Xander and Toryn Rogers and Wyatt Oehler. His large extended family includes his aunt, Barbara Carpenter; many cousins; several godchildren; countless friends; and his beloved dog, Lainey.
A celebration of Jerry’s life was held Saturday, Feb. 21 at Hotel Vetro in Iowa City.
