The dates for the Lakeview PTO meetings this school year can be found on our website, Solon.k12.ia.us>Calendars>SCSD Online Calendar
All meetings will be held in the Lakeview Media Center beginning at 7 p.m. and childcare will be provided. We hope you will join us as we plan activities to benefit Lakeview children and staff.
Each year the Junior Class sponsors Solon High School’s Prom. As a part of this event, you are required to either work a shift at the Junior class concession stand (behind the home bleachers underneath the crows nest) for a home football game or pay $25 in class dues. If you are unable to work (due to football, band, cheerleading, etc.) you can have a parent, a sibling or a friend work for you to avoid paying the $25. Sign up with Mr. Koza in rm. 108 or call 624-3401 ext.1111 – it is a first come first serve basis so sign up early to ensure a spot. There are three time slots available during all football games: 5-6:30 p.m. , 6:30-8 p.m., 8 p..m.-close. Working the athletic booster concession stand does NOT meet this requirement.
School pictures Friday Sept. 23
Individual school pictures will be taken at a later date, Friday, Sept. 23, by Lifetouch Photography. Several package options are available through a prepayment-money back guaranteed plan. Complete information will be distributed. All checks must be made payable to Lifetouch Photography.
School sports physicals
All athletes must have a physical examination completed before he/she will be allowed to participate or practice. School physical forms may be picked up at the school offices or are available on the school’s web site under the tab ‘Registration.’
Solon Schools participate in the federally subsidized National School Meals Program that allows children from families meeting certain income guidelines to receive free or reduced price meals. Application forms are updated annually. You must fill out the Iowa eligibility application and have it approved, not just the school fee waiver application, to receive free or reduced meals. The Iowa eligibility application form is available in the school offices.
Dental screening for kindergarten, new students and all 9th graders
All children entering elementary school, all high school freshmen and all new students to the district must have a dental screening completed on the Iowa Department of Public Health Certificate of Dental Screening form. The form is found on the school’s website under the ‘Registration’ tab. The purpose of the dental screening requirement is to improve the oral health of Iowa’s children and to promote the importance of oral health as an integral component of preparation for school and learning.
