Last chance to see trees
Only a few days remain in the Habitat for Humanity tree decorating contest. If you haven’t stopped at the library to see the beautiful trees, be sure to get there before the end of the week. Over 20 decorated Christmas trees are in place in the reading area at the west end of the library. A silent auction, now in progress, will continue through noon, Dec. 10 when trees will be awarded to the highest bidders. All proceeds will go toward the Habitat house that will be built on Dubuque Street in Solon. As the deadline draws closer, the bidding has intensified with a couple of bidding wars taking place. Get in on the action and raise money for a good cause at the same time.
Prizes will be awarded to the tree creators for first, second and third place as well at the humanity award. The newly formed tree judging committee will take the place of the public vote from previous years. Trees will be judged for placement by the tree committee. The community voting for the humanity award ended Dec. 5. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the contest.
