Maurus medals against Regina

CORALVILLE– Improved weather conditions allowed the Liberty High girls’ varsity golf team back on the greens Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 and 11.
The Lightning fell, 203-217, to Iowa City Regina on Tuesday, at the Brown Deer Golf Course in Coralville. Neely Maurus medaled with a 49 to lead Liberty.

Thursday saw the “Bolts” travel to Bettendorf and the Palmer Hills Golf Course to face off with Bettendorf, Davenport North and Dubuque Hempstead in a quad meet rescheduled from Monday, April 9, due to weather conditions. Bettendorf won the meet with 189 and Bettendorf’s Natalie Stine medaled with 44. Hempstead was the runner-up team with 210, followed by Liberty at 214 and Davenport North with 247.
Maurus led the Lightning again, this time with 50 at the conclusion of nine holes.

The Lightning visit the Kalona Country Club (1376 Hwy. 1, Kalona) in Kalona on Thursday, April 19, for a 12:30 p.m. invitational with Mid-Prairie and head for Mount Pleasant on Friday, April 27, for its invitational, at 1 p.m., on the greens of the Mount Pleasant Golf Course (2275 Hickory Ave. in Mount Pleasant). The Solon Lady Spartans visit the Bolts at the Brown Deer Golf Course (1900 Country Club Dr. in Coralville) at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1.
