Local employee charged with seven counts of forgery
NORTH LIBERTY– Nicole Marie Campbell of Coralville was charged with seven counts of forgery after she allegedly wrote checks on the account of an 87-year old resident of the North Liberty Living Center.
According to the complaint filed in district court, the 37-year-old Campbell was employed as property manager for the North Liberty Living Center at 410 Ashley Ct. in North Liberty when she wrote out personal checks payable to her husband, and as payment to two businesses, signing the victim’s name without authorization. Campbell allegedly forged seven checks totalling $7,599.45 from May 4 to May 21. The victim had reported the checks stolen.
The complaint states that Campbell admitted to forging multiple checks and also making out checks payable to her husband, signing his name on the back of the check and depositing it into their joint bank account without her husband’s knowledge. Campbell’s husband is reportedly a co-defendent in the case.
The North Liberty Living Center is operated by Pioneer Property Management, based out of Platteville, Wis. Emails seeking comment from Pioneer Property Management officials were unanswered last week.
Forgery is a class D felony, punishable by up to five years imprisonment and a potential fine of $750 to $7,500.
