Luella “Lou” Ann Davis, 74, of Solon, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Celebration of life services were held Feb. 6 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Lou was born May 26, 1939, in George, the daughter of William and Minnie (Thiele) Mammenga. She graduated from Lakota High School. Lou married Norman Davis on Jan. 11, 1957, in Lakota. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, watching birds, going fishing, traveling, bingo and spending time with her family and many friends. Lou was a member of The Red Hats and Linus Quilting. Lou is survived by her husband Norm of over 57 years; children Denise (Jerry) Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Davis of Marion; three grandchildren Cassie, Cole and Olivia; great-granddaughter Ava; siblings Margaret Leask of Battle Creek, Mich., Mickie (Doc) O’Connor of Ft. Dodge, Orval Mammenga of Arizona, and Helen (Jerry) Bierstedt of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog Scamp. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Peggy Ann, siblings Clara Garrett, John Mammenga, Frances Bandsma, Louis Mammenga, Levi Mammenga, William Mammenga, and William Mammenga Jr.
