Maryan Rose Steichen “Grandma,” 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral Mass was held Feb. 20 at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church with burial following in St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
Maryan was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Granville, the daughter of John Peter and Catherine (Nichel) Schwebach. She married Arthur Steichen on May 8, 1946, in Granville. Maryan and her family attended St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, raising 10 children. She worked Mercy Home Health Care for over 15 years.
Local survivors include her son Dennis (Millie) Steichen of Swisher.
