Mercy Sports hosts open houses this January
NORTH LIBERTY - Mercy Sports Care at Core Fitness, 395 Jordan Street, invites the public to attend one of three open houses in January, designed to familiarize athletes with the Athletic Republic sports performance training program and discuss injury prevention and treatment with a certified physical therapist.
Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids is the only area hospital to offer training designed to help athletes of all ages and abilities achieve their performance goals. Mercy has partnered with Athletic Republic, a scientific training method based on 20 years of research and testing, to offer state-of-the-art equipment and training protocols that cater specifically to each sport and every athlete. Six and ten week programs are available.
During the open houses, athletes are invited to try out Athletic Republic equipment such as the Generation II Super Treadmill, Plyo Press and the Plyo Platform, patented cord technology and Pro Multi-Hip machine. Those attending the open houses can register to win a free Athletic Republic six-week training program.
The public can also tour Physical Rehabilitation at Core Fitness. Erin McDowell, DPT, ATC, will be discussing overuse injuries, how to treat and prevent them. She will also talk about common winter-related injuries and how to prevent them.
The public is invited to attend any of the open houses on Jan. 11, 18 or 25, 5 to 8 p.m. at 395 Jordan Street (off Hwy. 965), North Liberty. Refreshments will be provided.
