Moore sets 41-point record in 73-70 win for CCA

WILLIAMSBURG– Clear Creek Amana (CCA) senior Darius Moore carried the Clippers to a 73-70 road win over rival Williamsburg on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and set a new school record in the process.
It was the Creek Boys’ second win of the season over the Raiders. They knocked off the ‘Burg, 80-66, at home, in December.
The Raiders pulled ahead, 16-14, at the end of the first period, but the Creek Boys rallied in the second quarter for a 39-26-halftime lead. CCA kept just ahead of their hosts in the second half, leading 55-53 going into the final eight minutes. The loss dipped the Raiders to a 7-9 record.
Jordan Wolfe had an 11-point night for the Clippers. Tyler Schrepfer and Cam Armstrong had nine points apiece. Moore led on the boards with seven rebounds while Wolfe pulled down six. Moore’s scoring effort eclipsed the previous record of 39 points set by Clay Miller in the 2010-11 season.
The Clippers host West Branch on Thursday, Feb. 8, with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off and entertain Anamosa the following evening, also at 7:30 p.m., before wrapping up the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at home, against Marion. The Indians defeated the Creek Boys, 60-37, in Marion last month.
