Oh, what a party!
The Halloween party is one of the most popular programs at the library and this year was no exception. With a record-setting crowd in attendance, costumed kids of all ages, moms, dads, grandpas and grandmas came to join in the fun. Visitors for the night were greeted outside by festive orange lights on the bushes and ghost luminaries covered with spider webs. Once inside, a pumpkin path was laid out on the floor between the stacks for participants to follow. Along the path were bean bag toss, pin the tail on the donkey and trick or treating doors. Members of Macbride’s Pride 4-H Club assisted with all the activities in the library. From there, the path led to the meeting room which was filled with bat and ghost crafts to assemble as well as refreshments. As the caldron boiled and bubbled with witch’s brew, the ghosts and goblins munched on treats of cookies and festively decorated cupcakes. Helpers in the meeting room were Lisa Haugland, leader of the 4-H club, Sandy Eads, Deena Foss and Margo Redlinger. Friends of the Library board members assisted by providing homemade goodies as well as Friends providing funding for some of the other refreshments. Miss Jen, Children’s Services Librarian, costumed as Thelma from Scooby Doo did a fantastic job of organizing the event. Thanks to Miss Jen, Macbride’s Pride and the adult crew of volunteers for supplying treats and serving them.
