NL announces chance for public to meet police chief finalists Sept. 11
NORTH LIBERTY– The City of North Liberty will host an opportunity for the public to meet the five finalists for police chief from 5:30 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the North Liberty City Council Chambers, 3 Quail Creek Cir. The informal reception will offer members of the public a chance to meet the candidates and offer input in the final selection.
The five finalists are Michael Brotherton of Iowa City; Jason Doll of Carlisle; Brad Nelson of Columbia, Mo.; Cliff Sessoms of Marion, Ind., and Diane Venenga, of North Liberty. Venenga is currently serving as the North Liberty Police Department’s interim police chief.
Candidates will also meet with the mayor and city councilors, city staff, and members of local law enforcement as part of the selection process.
The search to permanently fill the police chief opening began in June with the help of Moulder and Associates, a firm headed by former Des Moines police chief William Moulder, a consulting firm specializing in law enforcement. The city plans to name a permanent police chief this fall.
