hillip D. Travis, 33, of North Liberty, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at UIHC. A memorial service was held on March 13 at Calvary Church in Muscatine with Pastor Dan Schoepf officiating. An inurnment service was held at Blue Grass Cemetery on March 13. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home for North Liberty Community Pantry in Phillip’s name. Phillip David Travis was born on May 14, 1980, in Davenport, the son of Bruce Travis and Sara Jones. He was a 1998 graduate of Muscatine High School and also a graduate of Kirkwood Community College. Phillip was employed as an assistant store leader at Scheels in Coral Ridge Mall. He enjoyed playing golf, snowboarding, deep sea fishing, hunting, playing with his dog, music and going to concerts, and vacationing with family and friends. Phil was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He treasured his time with family and specifically wrestling with his nieces and nephew. People were naturally drawn to Phillip for his infectious smile and fun-loving, easy-going personality.
Phillip will be deeply missed by his significant other, Jill Noel of North Liberty; parents, Sara and Blaine Carroll of Muscatine and Bruce Travis of Davenport; brother, Dan and Andra Travis and their children, Lily, Cole and Cora, all of Muscatine; step-sister, Desiree (Luis) Fiallos of Miami, Fla.; grandparents, Gladys Nugent of Iowa City, Clark and Marilyn Travis of Davenport, and Doris Bryant and Donald Carroll of Atlanta; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert “Henry” Jones, Marjorie Jones and Gene Nugent.
