Ralph E. Berstler, 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his home in Cedar Rapids. Service with military honors was held April 1 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Survivors include his children: sons Thomas (Debra) of Valley Center Calif., Richard (Sheri) of Fairfax, Robert (Janan) of Solon; daughter Jill Berstler of New Hampton; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother Delmar (Luella) of Cedar Rapids; his special friend OraLee Hollingsworth and many nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Clara (Herdliska) Berstler, his wife Kathryn, and two brothers Le Roy and Russell “Dean”.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1929, to Carl and Clara Berstler in North English. Ralph married Kathryn McDonald on Sept. 28, 1957, in Washington (Iowa).
Ralph worked for Quaker Oats for 29 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 until 1954. He was a member of the Stellapolis Masonic Lodge #391 in Williamsburg for 50 years and member of the I-Hawk Club as an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
