Randy Alan Bahr, 44, of Swisher, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. Funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 6, at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford, with the Rev. Mike Townsley officiating. Burial was in Hala Cemetery, rural Walford.
Memorials are designated for an educational trust fund for his children.
Randy is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Isaac and Gracie, at home; his parents, Orville and Pat Bahr of Swisher; two brothers, Ricky (Karen) of Cedar Rapids and Kevin (Sheri) and their son, Christian of Swisher; a sister, Vicki of Swisher; father and mother-in-law, Bill and JoAnn Huston of Cedar Rapids; nephews Kenneth Bahr, Andrew Bahr (Brandi) and Scotty Huston Jr.; nieces Holly and Bailey Huston; and many aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law and a multitude of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale and Irene Bahr and August and Madge Koch.
Randy Alan Bahr was born Sept. 8, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Orville and Grace “Pat” Koch Bahr. He graduated from Prairie High School in 1986 and married Michelle Huston on June 17, 1989, at Palisades-Kepler State Park near Cedar Rapids. To this union two children were born, Isaac John and Gracie Lynn. He had been employed at Whirlpool Corporation for the past 22 years. Randy was a loving and devoted father and husband. He was a caring son. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. Family outings were a favorite activity and allowed him the opportunity to display his outstanding grilling skills. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to others and he enjoyed the many lifelong friends he made in Iowa, Linn and Johnson counties where he resided.
