Rayma Deskin, 76, of Solon, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. Services were held Aug. 17 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Wendy “Ranae” Drahos of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Laura) Deskin of Claremore, Okla., Ray Deskin of Cedar Rapids, Lyle Deskin of Port Arthur, Texas, and Terry Deskin and Steven Deskin, both of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Virginia (Larken) Derks of New Port Richey, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; two grandchildren, Tara and Tanja Deskin; brother Ronald Sult; and son-in-law Gil Drahos.
Rayma was born Nov. 30, 1934, the daughter of Raymond and Gladys (Bond) Sult, in Des Moines. On Jan. 22, 1957, she was united in marriage to Keith Deskin in Albia. They lived in Chicago until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1960 and then moved to Solon in 1976. Rayma worked for United Fire, McKesson-Robins Pharmaceutical and Quaker Oats, where she retired in 1999.
Rayma enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, traveling, music and simply loved life. She enjoyed meeting new people and always saw the good in everyone. She was a former member of the I.O.F.
Most of all, she loved her family. She absolutely adored each one of her grandchildren and bragged to all about each one of them and their accomplishments.
