Raymond Neumeyer

Raymond “Ray” R. Neumeyer, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at his home. Funeral Services were May 30 at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial was May 31 in the Versailles Cemetery, Versailles, Missouri.
Ray was born on Aug. 20, 1922, in Versailles, Missouri., the son of Ross C. and Mabel (Goddard) Neumeyer.
On Oct. 24, 1942, Ray married Vera L. Rumans in Versailles. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids in 1962. Ray drove a Cedar Rapids city bus, then for Missouri Transit Bus, and then drove for West Side in Cedar Rapids where he retired in 1995. Ray then shuttled cars for Ahrens and Rydell auto dealerships.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Patricia Coghlan of Solon; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren with another one due in November; and his niece and nephew.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera Neumeyer; two sons, David in infancy and Allan; a brother, John; and a great-great-granddaughter, Layla Sawyer.

Ruth Tomas
Ruth E. Tomas, 83, died peacefully Monday, May 26, 2014, surrounded by family. Funeral Services were held May 30 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Father Gary Beckman officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ruth Tomas Memorial Fund, Iowa City Hospice or the American Lung Association.
Ruth was born Nov. 18, 1930, in Solon, the daughter of Carl and Elma (Cambridge) Slaymaker. She was a graduate of Solon High School where she played basketball. On Nov. 3, 1949, Ruth married Charles “Chuck” Tomas in Iowa City. Ruth was employed for many years as an account specialist in the University of Iowa general accounting office, retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Church.
Ruth loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and traveling with Charles.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Tomas McIntire and her grandson, Marc McIntire, of Iowa City; her sister, Rita (Ted) Becker of Center Point; sisters-in-law, Earlene “Dutch” Slaymaker and Gladys Christensen, both of Iowa City; special niece, Marilyn Tomas of North Liberty and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her granddaughter Linell Lee McIntire and her brother, Robert Slaymaker.
