Senior Advocates, churches team up with Crisis Center for Turkey to Table Nov. 22
SOLON– The Solon Senior Advocates and Our Lord’s Church, St Mary Catholic Church and the Solon United Methodist Church have plans to partner with the Crisis Center of Johnson County to create a food pantry in the very near future to serve this quadrant of Johnson County. Although a food pantry has not yet been established in Solon, this group along with help from Bridge Community Bank, are organizing a “Turkey to Table” ready-to-cook Thanksgiving meal to be delivered to area families who otherwise might not have a Thanksgiving dinner.
Families who are unable to attend the Our Lord’s Church free Thanksgiving meal may call 936-0100 or 351-6707 to arrange for a meal that will contain a frozen 8-10 pound turkey plus all the fixings for a holiday meal. The meals will be delivered to their homes Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22.
For those who wish to help with this project, drop boxes are available at Sam’s Main Street Market, Our Lord’s Church, Bridge Community Bank and the Solon Public Library. On Monday, Nov. 21, Our Lord’s Church, St Mary and Solon United Methodist churches will hold an annual Ecumenical Service at the Methodist church at 7 p.m. following a soup supper at 6 p.m. A drop box will be available there for donations and all contributions will go toward the Turkey to Table Thanksgiving project.
