Shirley J. McGrew, 85, longtime resident of the Coralville area, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral services were held Jan. 5 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery, Coralville.

Shirley Jean Murschel was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Webster, S.D., the daughter of Samuel and Clara (Norby) Murschel. She was united in marriage to Floyd L. McGrew on Aug. 30, 1958, in Mason City. The couple moved to the Coralville area where they lived for over 40 years raising their family, owning and operating General Tree Service. She not only assisted her husband in their business but also worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals in the Cardiac Clinic for over 18 years. For many years the couple also sold Christmas trees.
Local survivors include her son Mick (Sarah) McGrew of Tiffin, and a daughter-in-law, Tammy McGrew of North Liberty.
