Solon Old Gold Diner April Activities

• Thanks to the Catherine Bilskie representing the Solon Economist, sponsoring the March meal. The Solon Economist continues to be a very big supporter of the Old Gold Diner. We appreciate Doug Lindner and all the staff.

• Bingo is held every Tuesday and Thursday. At 11 a.m. is penny bingo and following lunch play is for prizes, with a black out final game for a free Old Gold Dinner meal ticket as the prize. March 13 there will be no bingo.

• Cards are played most Wednesdays and every Friday. Warm up before lunch at 11 a.m. and play continues as long as desired in the afternoon. Euchre and bridge are the choices as currently. This month the United Methodist Women will meet, so there will not be play the first Wednesday of the month, April 4.

• Beautiful recycled cards are available for purchase for just 50¢ each. See all of the cards at the Solon Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. There is a display rack that makes it easy to view and select the cards. If they don’t have the type of card you seek, let D.R. or Anna know and we will try to find something to meet your need. If you haven’t shopped for a card lately, stop in.

• Wednesday April 4, a Birthday Party will be held for the folks with April birthdays. If you have an April birthday, call for a reservation to eat and let us know it is your birthday month and your meal is compliments of Old Gold Diner. The meal is only available April 4. Fill out an Old Gold Diner Signup Sheet and Questionnaire if this is your first time with us. Reservations need to be made by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3. If you have already filled out a sheet recently and have been active we will be calling.

• Old Gold Diner Site Council meets Monday April 9, at 1 p.m. All are welcome to help plan activities, entertainment and everyday operations. Call 319-624-2251 with comments and suggestions. Note this is a change from the past, we will now meet on the second Monday of each month.

• Tuesday April 10, representatives from the City of Solon will be on hand to dine and keep us up to date on what’s going on around Solon. They will answer city related questions. We are thankful for all the support the City of Solon gives our program.

• Sponsored meal this month will be April 11, by Memorials by Michel, of Solon. Serving the community, “Memorialization is a lasting tribute to your loved one.”

• The fourth graders will visit twice in April; April 18 will be Ms. Meyer’s 4E class and April 25 will be Ms. Johnson’s 4C class. We would like to have an adult for every fourth grader, so sign up to have an enjoyable meal and conversation. If you have a child, grandchild, neighbor or young friend, it is a great way to let them know you think
