Solon Public Library

How have libraries made a difference in your life?

The Solon library is collecting stories, which we hope that you will share with us, about the difference that libraries have made in your life. National Library Week is April 13 through 19. We would like to share your stories in a display. During National Library Week, we will have a “declaration of support” document that you can sign, that shows that you support libraries. If you would like to contribute a story, please drop it off at the library during the first week in April, or another option would be to send a letter to the editor at the Solon Economist. Thanks for your help in celebrating library service in our Solon community.

Framed Grant Wood pictures

If you’ve ever thought about purchasing one of the framed Grant Wood “New Road” prints, this is the time. We have 15 available now, in a variety of matting colors and frames (ash, oak, catalpa). This is the last batch we will be framing for the foreseeable future, so stop in soon for the best selection. The scene was painted, from the Mehaffey Bridge road, and features a sign pointing to Solon. They make great graduation or wedding gifts, or something special for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. All profits benefit the Solon Public Library.

Spring cleaning and the city-wide garage sale

This year the dates for the city-wide garage sale will be Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7. Registration forms will be available in mid April. If you don’t have enough items for a sale of your own, think about donating your items to the library for our sale. The library cannot accept clothing, encyclopedias, LPs, cassette tapes, VHS tapes, old VCRS, old TV sets, or old computers. Please appropriately recycle those items. We will accept items for the garage sale anytime– no need to wait.

Looking for Halloween costumes for a Friends sale in October

While you’re sorting through items for your sale, please consider donating any Halloween costumes or decorations that you’re no longer using. The Friends of the Library will be collecting used costumes, both children’s and adults, for a sale at the beginning of October.
