Enter as many times as you want to win gift cards to local restaurants. The theme is Literary Elements. Runs until July 26. We just added two new books to our Literary Elements display.
“Rocket Girl: The Story of Mary Sherman Morgan, America’s First Female Rocket Scientist” by George D. Morgan. This is the extraordinary true story of America’s first female rocket scientist. Told by her son, it describes Mary Sherman Morgan’s crucial contribution to launching America’s first satellite and the author’s labyrinthine journey to uncover his mother’s lost legacy– one buried deep under a lifetime of secrets political, technological, and personal.
“The Magic of Reality: How We Know What’s Really True” by Richard Dawkins. Filled with clever thought experiments and jaw-dropping facts, “The Magic of Reality” explains a stunningly wide range of natural phenomena: How old is the universe? Why do the continents look like disconnected pieces of a jigsaw puzzle? What causes tsunamis? Why are there so many kinds of plants and animals? Who was the first man, or woman? Starting with the magical, mythical explanations for the wonders of nature, Dawkins reveals the exhilarating scientific truths behind these occurrences.
