Superintendent calls for more middle school improvements
SOLON– Near the end of a Nov. 14 school board meeting, Solon Superintendent Sam Miller presented a list of items at the middle school to consider for future improvements.
He called the media center at the middle school completely inappropriate and said the school’s entryway should be more inviting and friendly. He thought the gymnasium floor was beyond repair and needed replacing, and also asked if they could improve the lunchroom a little bit.
Miller suggested a walk-through with the board at the building of fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
Four areas in the middle school are not air-conditioned and if they were cooled it could minimize early dismissals. The middle school is the only district building that isn’t fully air-conditioned.
He said the project would be substantial, “not millions of dollars, but we’re talking about a significant investment.”
