Volleyball honors accrue for area players

IGCA announces All-District and All-State

JOHNSON COUNTY– Athletes from Clear Creek Amana (CCA), Iowa City West High and Liberty High School were honored as the Iowa Girls Coaches Association (IGCA) announced its 2017 All-District and All-State Teams for high school volleyball.
CCA junior Shauntina Williams earned both Class 4A Southeast All-District and Class 4A All-State Honorable Mention distinctions. Williams produced 353 kills for the Clippers, made 23 ace serves, three assists, 45 block assists, 13 solo blocks and 103 digs.
Liberty High sophomore LeeAnn Potter earned a spot on the Class 4A Southeast All-District Team. Potter made 307 kills and 23 ace serves, eight assists, 345 digs, three block assists and seven solo blocks for the Lightning.
West High senior Colby Greene was named to the Class 5A East All-District Team and earned an All-State Second Team spot. Greene made 300 kills for the Women of Troy with 18 ace serves. She made 10 assists, 130 digs, 26 block assists and 50 solo blocks.
West’s Liz Walters was also recognized with a spot on the Academic All-State roster.
