Wanted man arrested for armed robbery

Looted neighboring apartment with rifle in hand

A North Liberty man was arrested for the armed robbery of a neighboring apartment tenant. Already wanted for a previous felony, he now faces several charges.
Accord to police complaints, Beauhanan D. Walker Jr., 33, of Country Living Apartments, at 160 Sugar Creek Ln., knocked on the door of the neighboring apartment around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8. When the woman opened her door, Walker aimed a rifle at her head and entered the apartment.
Walker instructed the victim to lie face down on a bed as he began searching the apartment for valuables. He fled the scene with $40 in cash and a belt.
Shortly after, authorities obtained a search warrant and entered Walker’s apartment. There they found the rifle under a mattress. Walker was convicted of a felony in Illinois in 2005, which restricts him from legally possessing a firearm.
Walker was taken into custody at about 4 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9; however, after being escorted to Johnson County Jail, he escaped the arresting officer and briefly went missing. He was later reacquired and brought into custody. As of Friday, Nov. 10, Walker is being held at the Johnson County Jail. He was booked at 2:30 a.m. that same day, according to records.
Walker faces an assortment of charges, including Class B felonies of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, as well as Class D felonies of control of a firearm by a felon and escape from custody.
He was already wanted for third-degree sexual assault, a Class C felony, stemming from a Feb. 9, 2014, incident. According to an Iowa City criminal complaint, a victim asleep at a friend’s apartment woke up to Walker sexually abusing her.
In light of the charges occurring last week alone, Walker faces up to 60 years in prison.
