West boys, girls dominate at City’s Forwald/Coleman Relays
IOWA CITY– The West High track and field teams traveled across town to City High Thursday, April 18, for the Little Hawks’ Forwald/Coleman Relays and performed in dominating fashion. The Women of Troy won their meet with 132 team points, knocking the host Hawks to second with 120. The Trojans won the men’s meet with 168 points, also putting their hosts in the second-place slot with 141 for City.
Individual and relay winners for the women were: Ashlynn Yokom in the 3,000-meter and 1,500-meter runs; Carolyn Ellis, Cali Kinney, Olive Carrollhach and Pombie Silverman in the distance medley relay; McKennan Cronbaugh in the 200-meter dash and long jump; Kristina Bauer, Kiana Wilson, Alicia Hardin and Cronbaugh in the 4x100-meter relay and Akimi Oya, Molly Leveille, Ashley Knudson and Tia Saunders in the 4x400-meter relay.
Individual and relay winners for the men were: Wynton Karanja, Cole Hatzky, Nobuki Harata and Kaleb Greiner in the 4x800-meter relay; Tavian Smith in the 100 and 200-meter dashes and long jump; Andrew Gilbaugh in the 400-meter hurdles; Bailey Wetherell in the 800-meter run and Matt Feeley, Ahmed Noureldaim, Royce Peterson and Jeremy Morgan in the 4x400-meter relay. Morgan also won the high jump.
