MT. VERNON– Finding the right summer camp for your children is tough, but when you have a special needs child with hemophilia it’s particularly important to find one that takes extra precaution - injuries for this group of kids can lead to bleeding into their joints and muscles.
On June 24, Leading Edge, a nationally run adventure camp program that focuses on self-esteem development for youth and adolescents in the bleeding disorder community and is supported by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, will be at Camp Tanager, 1614 W. Mt. Vernon Road in Mount Vernon, IA. The program, which instills self-efficacy and teaches problem solving, was created to help educate children and teens with blood born illnesses about the different and fun ways they can be active despite their disease.
