IOWA CITY– The West High Women of Troy track and field team qualified 13 events for the 2011 State Co-Ed Meet to be held May 19-21 in Des Moines, through their performances last Thursday, May 12, in a Class 4A Regional Meet at City High. The West High girls will be defending their 2010 State Championship.
Ally Disterhoft, Pombie Silverman, Olive Carrollhach and Ashley Knudson not only won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:33.20; they also earned the No. 1 seed in the State Meet. McKennan Cronbaugh won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 12.51 and 25.56 seconds respectively, earning her the third and fifth seeds. Cronbaugh also won the long jump competition with a 17-07.50 flight, placing her as the No. 2 seed in Class 4A.
Shahana Williams finished third and second in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.78 and 25.57 seconds, earning her the 10th and sixth seed for State. Molly Leveille won the 800-meter run in 2:20.92, which was good for the fifth seed. Olive Carrollhach was third in the event and will take the 14th slot in Des Moines with her 2:23.66 effort. Annie Schaeckenbach finished fourth in the 400 meter dash in 1:018 which was good for a 20th seeded berth.
Pombie Silverman punched her ticket to State with a fourth-place finish in the 1500-meter run in 5:06.78, good for the 21st overall at State. Kristina Bauer, Courtney Dauber, Williams and Cronbaugh won the 4x100 meter relay in 49.02 seconds, and are seeded No. 2 in 4A. Bauer, Dauber, Rebecca Tanner and Williams brought the 4x200 meter relay to a third-place finish in 1:45.23 and are qualified for State as the seventh seeded squad.
Schaeckenbach, Leveille, Akimi Oya and Knudson finished third in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:05.49; and are seeded 11th for State. The 800-meter sprint medley relay ran by Bauer, Dauber, Tanner and Disterhoft finished fourth in 1:51.54 and earned an 11th seed berth.
Cara Jensen won the shot put with her 40-04.25 toss, earning her the No. 2 seed for Des Moines. Sheila Johnson placed fourth with a 35-00.25 throw and is seeded 22nd. Bauer, Dauber, Disterhoft and Leveille ran the distance medley relay to a second-place finish in 4:13.78, punching their ticket to State as the No. 5 seeded squad.

City High won the meet with 188 total team points, the Women of Troy were second overall with 163.
