“The Summer Reading Program is off to a great start,”’ reported Jen Leveck, Youth Services Librarian. “We have already had a lot of kids coming in to pick up prizes and handed out a lot of T-shirts.”
The fun continues in Week 3 with Around The World Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Theme this week will be “Animal Sounds from Around the World” with all preschoolers through kindergarten invited to join in. Teens On Tuesdays @2 have a couple of activities for the afternoon. One activity includes brewing up a batch of homemade henna for decorating ourselves artistically and also making scratch art magnets. Tuesday wraps up with a family night activity and after two very exciting and loud Tuesdays, we are going to tame things down a bit with the Disney movie “Tangled” at 6:30 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring your blanket or pillow to sit on the floor. On Wednesday afternoon, June 22, at 1:30 p.m. the first through fourth grade Afternoon Adventurers will be doing a craft project, “Paint Like Elephants.”
Toni Russo has created a wonderful display window to go along with the Summer Reading Program theme, “One World, Many Stories.” The window is a delight to behold for patrons of all ages. Young children as well as adults enjoy reading the “I Spy” poem posted on the window and finding all the items listed in the rhyme.
