JOHNSON COUNTY– The public is invited to join the League of Women Voters of Johnson County for a summer picnic and program designed to help citizens learn about the social, economic, and demographic changes occurring in Johnson County. Christine Scheetz, President and CEO of United Way of Johnson County, will present the results of a community assessment of needs. Based on the data gathered and input from community leaders, United Way has come up with a 10-year plan to address the disturbing local numbers in income, education and health. Her presentation is entitled “2020 Vision Goals for the Common Good of Johnson County.”
This event will take place on Wednesday, June 29, at 12 p.m. at the Coralville Public Library, Room A. The lunch is from 12-12:30 p.m., with the program from 12:30-1:15 p.m. A question period will follow. Participants may bring their own brown bag lunch or may order a catered lunch of ham, turkey, egg salad, or chicken salad sandwiches by sending a $10 check payable to League of Women Voters of Johnson County. Specify sandwich choice and mail reservation with check to Carol Spaziani, 409 Crestview Ave., Iowa City, IA 52245 by June 24. The catered sack lunch also includes chips, fruit, and a cookie. The League will provide beverages. Participants are welcome to attend the program at 12:30 p.m. and skip the lunch. The Coralville Library requests participants to park free in the lower level of their ramp where entry can be made directly to the meeting room complex.
