IOWA CITY– The 19th annual Iowa City Aerohawks Air Show will be held Sunday, July 10, from 1-4:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Aerohawks Flying Field adjacent to the Iowa City Landfill off Melrose Avenue. Follow the signs 2 1/2 miles west of West High School on Melrose Ave, Iowa City or two miles west of the Melrose Avenue interchange off Hwy 218.
The show will include many exciting events demonstrating the skill of the pilots and capabilities of radio-controlled model aircraft. Come watch as the pilots go head to head in several flying events that match skill and nerves to see who will reign supreme.
There will be something for everyone, including aerial combat, limbo contest, comedy routines, warbirds, helicopter demonstrations, a jet turbine flight and even a candy drop for kids of all ages plus much more.
Over 100 model aircraft of all sizes and types, built by Aerohawks members, will be on display.
Members of the Aerohawks will be on hand to answer questions about model airplanes and the hobby of flying radio-controlled model aircraft.
Food and refreshments will be available on the grounds at family prices. No carry in food or beverages please. Bring a lawn chair and some sunscreen and plan on spending the entire afternoon.
Shade is available for the early arrivals. The grounds open to the public at 12 p.m.
Admission and parking are free. Donations will be accepted during the show for the “Take Flight Exhibition” at the Iowa Children’s Museum in Coralville.
