NORTH LIBERTY– Liberty Centre Blues & BBQ is back. After being stormed out May 29, the Redux will be on Saturday, July 23. Same place - Liberty Centre off of Penn Street in North Liberty. Same time– 12-10 p.m.
Here’s the catch: the committee needs volunteers. Assistance is needed to serve in the beverage garden, set up before the event and tear down after, supervise rides and other tasks. It’s only one day and it’s truly a memorable celebration. If you can spare a hand or two for a few hours, it will make all the difference. Send an email to volunteer coordinator, Katie Colony, at email@example.com , for information about volunteer opportunities .
As planned in May, the event includes inflatable rides, kids’ fishing, a petting zoo, speed pitching and lots of games from nonprofit organizations. Face painting is coming to the Redux, as well as balloons and cool activities from the Fire Department.
Bob Dorr, Kevin Burt and Dave Zollo are going to provide the blues. The Ellis Kell Band has also been added to the evening lineup. There will still be barbecue and other goodies, including meat on a stick, shaved ice, hot dogs and much more. The beverage garden will be set up as well.
As always, this party is free; there is no admission fee to listen to the bands, enjoy the games and rides or for the fireworks. One lucky raffle winner aged 14 and under will get to push the ignite button on the fireworks show.
This day of free, family fun is for everyone– even the dog (though dogs must be on a leash).
