CORALVILLE– The Johnson County Republican Party, in conjunction with the other counties in the Second Congressional District, plus Iowa and Linn Counties, are hosting an “Eastern Iowa Picnic and Rally to Meet the Next President!” The fundraiser event is Friday, Aug. 5, from 5–8 p.m. at Clear Creek Amana High School, 551 W. Marengo Rd. (Highway 6), Tiffin.
Republican Presidential contenders confirmed as participating include former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, former Governor Tim Pawlenty, and former Senator Rick Santorum. They will be meeting voters and speaking on issues of interest to Iowans and all Americans. Others invited to participate include Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, John Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and Ron Paul. It is anticipated that several of these candidates will attend.
The cost for the Picnic is $15 per person, $25 per couple, and $35 for a family of four and includes hamburgers, brats, baked beans, chips, beverages and ice cream from Dane’s Dairy.
Participating counties include: Appanoose, Cedar, Clarke, Clinton, Davis, Decatur, Des Moines, Henry, Jasper, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Wapello, Washington and Wayne, along with Iowa and Linn counties in the First Congressional District.
