GRINNELL— The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity volleyball crew traveled Saturday to the Grinnell Invitational, a seven-team tournament, and came away with a second place finish and an overall record of 10-5 on the season.
The Clippers downed Grinnell (21-10 and 21-10) and Norwalk (21-13 and 21-10) but fell in three games to West Branch (20-22, 21-17 and 12-15). The performance earned CCA a spot in the semi-final round, where they got past West Liberty 21-14 and 21-19 before falling again to West Branch in the Finals (14-21, 21-17 and 7-15).
“For our first time competing in this tournament and finishing second, it was nice to finish that high,” Coach Brian Bronzynski said. However, he added, “we still feel that we have a number of things to improve before we move deeper into the season.”
