There are several new book releases on the horizon that patrons are already requesting. Children Services Librarian Jen Leveck is taking names and making a list for these new books that are on order and will be shipped as soon as they are released. Any of these books will appeal to patrons from fourth grade through high school.
First out, and just released Oct. 4, is book two in Rick Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus series, titled “The Son of Neptune.” The first book in this series is “The Lost Hero,” where you meet Jason, his girlfriend Piper and his best friend, Leo, on a school bus filled with problem kids headed to the Grand Canyon. The action takes off quickly– storm spirits attack them and capture their coach. At their first visit to Camp Half-Blood, they inherited a quest. The plot continues in book two. Planned as a five-book series, book number three is scheduled for release in the fall of 2012. Readers who enjoyed the Harry Potter series will be clamoring to read the Heroes of Olympus series.
The highly anticipated conclusion to the bestselling Inheritance cycle, by Christopher Paolini, will be released on Nov. 8. “Inheritance” book number four in the series, pits the Rider and his dragon against the evil king. Can they topple him and restore justice to Alagaesia? The conclusion will astonish you.
Jeff Kinney, a New York Times bestselling author, will release the sixth book in The Diary of A Wimpy Kid series on Nov. 15. Titled “Cabin Fever,” Greg Heffley is in big trouble. School property has been damaged and Greg is the prime suspect. The surprise is, he’s innocent, or at least sort of. A surprise blizzard hits as the authorities are closing in. Greg knows when the snow melts he is going to have to face the music.
