SOLON– Appointed incumbent Mark Krall was the winner in the only contested race in last week’s Solon city elections.
Krall received 265 votes (63 percent) in the Nov. 8 elections, while challenger Chuck Panzer had 156 (37 percent). Krall will continue to serve out the remaining two years of the term he was appointed to fill.
Current city council member Cami Rasmussen was elected to the position of mayor, while incumbent Brad Kunkel and Ron Herdliska faced no opposition for two seats on the Council.
According to the Johnson County Auditor’s results, a total of 468 voters took part in the election, a turnout of 36.14 percent. The city has 1,295 registered voters.
Krall will be sworn in at the Wednesday, Nov. 6, session of the council.
Terms for Rasmussen, Kunkel and Herdliska will begin in January.
Rasmussen’s departure from the council will create another two-year term to fill.
Solon City Administrator Cassandra Lippincott said last week she expected the council members to appoint a replacement.
