TIFFIN– Sara Bleeker’s Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Clippers’ girls soccer team notched another win Monday evening, shutting-out visiting Benton Community 4-0 in a match which saw the Creek girls dominating from the start.
Emma Bormann scored three minutes in after the Bobcats’ goalie missed an attack shot launched by Megan Hall. The score stood at 1-0 for the remainder of the first half. Kelsey Hall scored almost 10 minutes into the second half with a shot seemingly unseen by Benton’s keeper. In contrast, Fran Strub came in like a dive bomber with just under 20 minutes left to play, scoring the Clippers’ third goal. Megan Hall put in the fourth and final goal with nine minutes remaining.
The Clippers were ranked 12th, up one spot, in the May 10 Class 1A rankings put out by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.
The regular season wraps-up Friday, May 18, against the Lady Spartans in Solon while the post-season opens Thursday, May 24, with regional first-round matches.
