SWISHER– The body of Daryl Dosch was found in a rural Swisher home that was the site of a fire, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
According to a release by Johnson County Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek, the sheriff’s department and the Jefferson/Monroe Fire Department responded June 25 to a report of a house fire that had occurred at 1663 Falcon Ave NW, rural Swisher. A witness had reportedly gone to the residence to check on the house and found a deceased individual in the residence. It appeared that a fire had taken place but that the fire had extinguished itself.
The sheriff’s department is working with the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Johnson County Medical Examiner on the investigation.
The victim was identified as Daryl Dosch, 71, of 1663 Falcon Ave. NW. The exact time of the fire and death are unknown. Dosch was last seen at 6 p.m. on June 24, and then discovered at 11 a.m. on June 25. According to the sheriff’s department, the state fire marshal has determined a couch caught on fire in the house but extinguished itself. The cause of death has not been determined but an autopsy will be performed by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office working with the Johnson County Medical Examiner.
The fire and death are not considered suspicious.
