Earl “Bill” Hunter, 96, of Lone Tree, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Country View in North Liberty. Funeral services were held Sept. 30 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial was at the Lone Tree Cemetery with full military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Country View in North Liberty or American Cancer Society in memory of Bill. Earl William Hunter was born Sept. 4, 1916 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Earl and Charlotte J. (Bushmeyer) Hunter. On Sept. 1, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Miriam Wiese in Aledo, Ill. Bill was a salesman for Iowa City Plumber’s Supply and Heating. He was a member of Lone Tree American Legion Post 457 and the V.F.W. in Decorah.
