IOWA CITY– Nathan Timmel’s Fourth Annual “Comedy for Charity” will take place on Nov. 11 at the Mill in Iowa City at 6:30 p.m. Every year since its inception, “Comedy for Charity” has selected a worthy charity to receive all of the event’s proceeds, which go directly to the chosen charity. Last year almost $6,000 was raised for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to combating pediatric cancer.
This year’s benefactor is English River Outfitters (ERO), a 501(c)(3) non-profit located just south of Iowa Cit. ERO’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s returning war veterans by providing programs that help to foster a healthy readjustment back to civilian life. ERO uses positive outdoor experiences that include fishing, hunting and hiking. ERO gives families a place to reintegrate with their loved one in an outdoor setting where soldiers– those with disabilities both visible and invisible– can realize their strengths and independence. (For more about ERO, visit www.englishriveroutfitters.org .) Timmel is currently soliciting donations of goods or services from local merchants for the event’s silent auction.
