SOLON– The Solon Soccer Girls season consists of much more than just soccer.
This season was the third year the girls and their families held a garage sale to raise funds for extra equipment and other expenses. Jim’s Septic generously hosted the sale and it has become a tradition with the girls. Lori McKinnie, mother of senior player Alison, spearheaded this project from its inception.
“A huge thanks to Lori McKinnie for organizing and leading this effort. Coach Kopecky and I have already started a “wish list” including training equipment, video equipment, and other necessities to improve the girls’ soccer program,” Coach John Tucker said. “I can’t thank everyone enough for donating items, and their time to this. I am always humbled and awed at the support that the community has for our players and our program.” The girls organize and price all the items Friday night. Each year someone graciously opens their house to the entire team afterward for a sleepover and Eastwood’s Sports Bar generously donates the pizza. With the help of many generous donations the program raised over $1,800.
