NORTH LIBERTY– For the second year in a row, a free Thanksgiving dinner will be available to those in need, thanks to a local community member and several businesses.
On Thanksgiving Day from noon until 4 p.m., a full Thanksgiving meal will be available for those in need at the South Slope Community Center in North Liberty.
“Last year’s Thanksgiving dinner was such a wonderful experience that I knew I wanted to host the event again this year,” said Amanda Engstrom, chair of the Thanksgiving dinner committee. Engstrom has partnered with HyVee this year to provide a free and delicious meal to members of the local community who, without Engstrom’s efforts, would not be able to put a Thanksgiving meal on the table for their families. “We can all make a difference to those less fortunate than ourselves, and I believe this is my way of giving back to my community,” Engstrom said.
Transportation to the meal will also be available. To schedule transportation, please call 319-530-0135 and leave a message. For general information about the Thanksgiving dinner, contact Amanda at email@example.com .
