Iva Mae Frazer Van Baale, 89, left this life on Feb. 6, 2014. She was born Nov. 12, 1924, to Vern L. and Mable Ann (Churchill) Frazer in Prairie City.
As a young child, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the Methodist Church in Prairie City. Later she transferred to First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro, Texas, where she remained a faithful member.
Iva Mae married Harold Van Baale on Nov. 14, 1943, in Prairie City. They had two sons, Harold Eugene (Gene) and Joseph Lester (Joe.)
Over the years, she was a mother and homemaker, and worked at the Prairie City Nursing Home, Look Magazine and The National Computer Service in Des Moines. After the death of her husband, she moved to Solon, where she worked at American College Testing in Iowa City for 16 years, when she retired and moved to Jacksboro, Texas, to be near her sons.
She is survived by her sons, Gene (Sharon) of Jacksboro, Texas, Joe (Alice) of Slidell, Texas, eight grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ina Beth Engel of Norfolk, Neb.; and one brother Wayne (Beverly) Frazer of Webster City.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro, Texas on Sunday, Feb. 9, with David Weber officiating, assisted by Eugene Weldon followed by a graveside service and burial at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
