TIFFIN– The wheels are rolling for TiffinFest 2014.
City Council member Mark Petersen, co-chair of this year’s event, updated the council at last week’s meeting on the planning committee’s progress.
“All the contracts are in, which is way ahead of schedule,” said Petersen.
This year marks the seventh anniversary of the event, this year to be held Friday, Aug. 22, through Sunday, Aug. 24. The community celebration, which offers both free and paid-admission activities for children, families and adults, includes a parade, carnival, petting zoo, appearances by clown duo Sparkles and Sprinkles, a music festival, softball and soccer tournaments, 5K run, a mini-rod tractor pull, rodeo, a car show, fireworks and a Saturday night concert headlined by popular arena rock tribute band Hairball.
“Everything has been going beautifully, with a lot of help from Bella Sala and the people here in the city offices,” said Petersen. Bella Sala Events Center co-owners Melissa Fontanini and Lyndsie Schnoor have offered space for the event and other assistance to accommodate the bigger crowds expected this summer.
A new website administrator will launch the Tiffinfest 2014 homepage in the next couple of weeks, with a complete schedule of events and regular updates between now and August.
