The sheriff’s office currently provides 34 hours of weekly law enforcement to the City of Solon at a cost of $41 per hour. That hourly cost will increase $2 an hour, to $43, beginning in July 2017.
It was not unexpected news.
The sheriff’s office instituted a policy of increasing its hourly rates every other year and, with that understanding, the city upped the number of contract hours from 32 to 34 last year.

Football was first at 2:30 p.m. against Nebraska; at 6 p.m. the men’s basketball team played Virginia and then at 8 p.m. the women played James Madison.

How sweet it is

Hawk Talk

Iowa defeats Nebraska, 40-10

The Hawkeye football team played its best overall game of the season on Black Friday as it came up with big plays on offense, had a shutdown defense and special teams were almost perfect.

How about this: the 40-10 win ties the largest margin of victory over Nebraska since 1899 (30-0)!
I was at the 1981 win which was also Kirk Ferentz’s first game as a Hawkeye line coach.
