SOLON– It’s a combination of rustic elements and contemporary design, urban chic meets country comfort. It’s a Friday night with old friends around the fire, topped off with new-to-the-world trendy craft beer.
It’s part five-star chef, part mom’s mac-and-cheese, born of a blend of talented individuals both raised in the Midwest and schooled by life in some of the most eclectic, metropolitan places in the world.
And it’s all in once place, right in the heart of Solon.

SOLON– The Solon Senior Advocates are initiating a trip sponsorship program to help reduce costs for our seniors. A sponsorship program will enable us to provide lower rates for the 12 to 14 yearly trips. Increased participation often necessitates organizing bus transportation which adds cost and not all seniors can afford these trips. Many would like to participate, not only for entertainment, but for sociability and mobility. Pledges may be made in any amount at $30 per trip or up to include all 12 trips.

Fall hours, holiday closing

The library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day. Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 3, regular library hours resume which means the library will open at noon on Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday hours remain 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

NORTH LIBERTY– The subject of minorities being arrested and incarcerated at a higher percentage than white people has been an on-going discussion topic in Johnson County, and was cited during debates over the county’s proposed new justice center. However that discussion focused on adult contact with law enforcement and the criminal justice center, and not necessarily on juvenile offenders.
