North Liberty Leader

Boldt assumes role as Tiffin’s administrator

TIFFIN– As the City of Tiffin transitions into new leadership, the city’s new manager will be transitioning back into the public sector.
Doug Boldt, 41, was hired as Tiffin City Administrator last month after a search conducted by Pat Callahan Associates garnered 22 applicants and culled five interviewees from that list.
Boldt served as Tipton’s City Manager from 2005 until 2012. Though he has spent the last three years working in the private company he co-owned, public service has never been far from his mind.

Girl Scouts leave their mark on North Liberty parks

NORTH LIBERTY— While some Scouts might spend an afternoon removing trash from local parks, Girl Scout Troop No. 5664 in North Liberty is leaving stuff behind.
The Girl Scouts are leaving letterboxes, an outdoor treasure hunt similar to geo-caching. The hobby offers all ages an excuse to go outside and explore. Letterboxers follow clues (these days, the clues are online) to small, weatherproof boxes containing a stamp that is hidden in a publicly accessible area. Once they find the letterbox, they collect a copy of the stamp, leave their own mark and return the box to its hiding place.

Get ready for a new Leash on Life

Pet supply store adds to North Liberty’s shopping choices

NORTH LIBERTY– It’s appropriate that Julie Phye’s shop is called Leash on Life.
The Iowa City business owner’s life took a whole new direction after she adopted Rosie the Labrador retriever from a shelter in 2002. Adding Rosie to her family ultimately led Phye to leave her job at the University of Iowa to open her own pet supply business.
Because of Rosie, Leash on Life is not just about selling pet products.

Youth a significant factor for West High Trojans on the diamond for 2015 season

North Liberty Leader
IOWA CITY– Graduation of 2014 was not kind to Charlie Stumpff and his West High Trojan baseball program.
While seniors Tyus Adkins, Nate Boland, Declan Doyle, Grant Ewing, Nick Gallagher, Brock Hatzky, Devin Raffensperger and Nick Spiess played throughout the summer leading West to a 34-10 record overall, 20-6 conference record, the start of the 2014-2015 school year saw them shedding their West High Green and moving on.
