Blues & BBQ volunteer sign-up is on
NORTH LIBERTY– Sign up is now open for volunteers at the July 12 North Liberty Blues & BBQ presented by South Slope Cooperative Communications. It takes a volunteer force of about 200 people to put on this all-ages, family-friendly event. Roles include selling drink tickets or serving in the beverage garden, helping kids at the inflatables, distributing water to volunteers, set up and tear down, and many others. Volunteers can visit northlibertyblues.org/volunteer to sign up.
The annual daylong event features live blues music, free children’s rides and activities, local craft brews, mouthwatering barbecue and a fireworks finale. Every year, it attracts thousands of families from North Liberty and across Iowa. Beginning in 2014, the event is moved to the second Saturday in July, with an expectation of more predictable weather. The event will also shift locations to North Liberty’s newest park, Centennial Park, 1565 St. Andrews Dr., between Jones Boulevard and Kansas Avenue.
