Clipper girls’ shuttle hurdle relay places second at state

DES MOINES– Clear Creek Amana (CCA) athletes competed in 15 events for the 2014 State Track & Field Championships held Thursday, May 22, through Saturday, May 24, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Mia Smith, Celine Fender, Corrine Schwarting and Natalie Brimeyer took their shuttle hurdle relay to a second place finish twice, both times (preliminary heat and finals) following in the footsteps of Mount Pleasant, which won the event. Fender, Tyhesia Simpson, Amy Brant and Brimeyer ran the 800-meter sprint medley relay to a fifth-place finish in 1:50.57.
Tanner Bandy placed sixth in Thursday’s 200-meter dash qualifying heats and was seventh in the finals on Saturday.
