Clippers sweep W. Delaware on home turf

CCA girls wins 7-0 and boys 5-0 in soccer doubleheader

TIFFIN– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity soccer teams swept the visiting Hawks of West Delaware in a girls-boys doubleheader Tuesday, April 12, on the home turf.
Matt Harding’s girls improved to 4-0 with the 7-0 shelling of the Hawks in the opener, while Tim Benson’s boys upped their record to 2-1 with a 5-0 win in the nightcap.
Kaitlin Riggle scored twice inside one minute in the first half. Riggle recorded a goal 16 minutes into the first half and turned around 41 seconds later to score for a 2-0 lead. Riggle recorded a hat trick with her third goal late in the second half. Hannah Bormann also posted a hat trick with her first of three goals coming 27 minutes into the first half on a shot bounced off of the keeper’s hands to score. Bormann struck again about eight minutes later for a 4-0 Clipper advantage. Four minutes into the second half, Bormann nailed her third goal. Ezrah Berkson scored on a Penalty Kick with seven minutes left in the game.
Mustafa Elsemeih walked the ball into the goal four minutes into the boys’ game for a 1-0 lead, followed six minutes later by Luke Oeherlich with an artillery shot that dropped in to score. Oeherlich scored again late in the first half after Trey Godbolt scored. The Clippers took their 4-0 lead into the halftime break and stymied the Hawks throughout the second half. Tyreke Williams put in the Creek boys’ fifth and final goal with eight minutes remaining in the game for the 5-0 final.
